Tottenham thrash sorry Everton in EPL (7NEWS.com.au)

Tottenham have hammered Everton 5-0 in the Premier League to close in on the top four while the Toffees are languishing just above the drop zone.

Kane made it five with the goal of the night as a great ball over the top by Doherty picked out the Tottenham talisman to find the bottom corner with a superb first-time left-foot volley across Pickford. This was as bad a performance as the Toffees have put in this season and there has been no bounce under Frank Lampard, with a fourth loss in five league games since he took over as manager. Tottenham have kept themselves in the Premier League top-four race with a 5-0 hammering of Everton, who are in relegation danger after a gutless showing in north London.

Tottenham's win over Everton kept them within touching distance of the top four with a couple of games in hand on both West Ham and Manchester United. Arsenal also have to play United and West Ham later this season with the race for the Champions League places potentially going into the final round of matches. Wins against United and West Ham could see Tottenham move clear of both clubs in the battle for a top-four finish with north London rivals Arsenal the only obstacle left. Tottenham have missed out on that kind of money for the past two seasons now and a third could spell further trouble in the transfer market. That has pushed them into the top four for the time being and they also have games in hand on those around them. It's been a different story entirely for Arsenal with Mikel Arteta's side winning four games on the bounce.

'Sacked in the morning': Fallen Premier League giant savaged over 'shambolic' new low.

Tottenham showed no mercy and, from Doherty’s diagonal cross, Kane volleyed the goal of the night with a superb strike from an acute angle in the 55th minute Kane was ready to pounce until Keane made a hash of his clearance and diverted the ball into his own net. That was the only time they showed any fight and the team with the league’s worst away record so far this term were breached again in the 46th minute. Tottenham were rampant and Kane was next to get on the scoresheet in the 37th minute. The Toffees crashed to a new low on Tuesday, falling to a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham, prompting “sacked in the morning” chants from the Everton faithful. Sergio Reguilon made it four and Kane netted again to complete the demolition.

Spurs in top-4 akin to Prem, UCL title (unknown)

Antonio Conte says Tottenham Hotspur securing a top-four finish would feel like winning the Champions League or the Premier League title.

I repeat, to finish in the top four for us it would be we won the Champions League or Premier League this season." We have 12 games to play and they have to be finals for us. Now we have only 12 games to play, not a trophy to play for.

Frank Lampard blames individual errors for Everton’s rout by Tottenham (unknown)

Everton manager said 'mistakes and bad defending' were behind his side's 5-0 demolition at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

From my arrival to now we are stronger, and I think that we can fight for this target. The first 15 minutes looked like I wanted it to, but the crucial part of Tottenham’s game as a counterattacking team is to find space behind you and the players were aware of that and didn’t deal with it. And we started the game well today.
